The UK's First Islamic Will Portal

An exciting project I've been fortunate to be part of, doing my part to the Muslim community in the UK and hopefully in more places to come.

Muslims living in England and Wales can now complete their will online with the UK's first Islamic will portal, all in as little as 20 minutes.

Why Create an Islamic Will?

Unfortunately, many Muslims don't prioritise making a will. Upon their death they may be buried in ways against their wishes, have their wealth distributed incorrectly, have the courts decide who takes care of their children and leave behind fighting families.

True Wills is the UK's first Islamic will portal, built to help Muslims ensure their final wishes are carried out in accordance with Islamic law. The platform makes the process of creating a Sharia-compliant will simple, accessible, and affordable, all online and without needing an in-person appointment with a solicitor.

Why This Matters

As Muslims, we believe that making a will (Wasiyyah) is an important Islamic obligation. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "It is the duty of a Muslim who has anything to bequest not to let two nights pass without writing a will about it."

Despite this, a significant proportion of Muslims in the UK die intestate, meaning without a will. When someone dies without a will in England and Wales, the intestacy rules apply. These rules don't take into account Islamic inheritance principles, which can lead to wealth being distributed in ways that don't align with Islamic law.

True Wills solves this problem by making it easy for Muslims to create a Sharia-compliant will online, in as little as 20 minutes.

What You Can Do With True Wills

With True Wills, you can:

  • Assign guardians for your children
  • Fulfil the rights of your family
  • Distribute your wealth in accordance with Islamic inheritance law
  • Ensure you are buried according to your wishes
  • Leave specific bequests to charity or loved ones

The platform guides you through the process step by step, making it easy to create a comprehensive, legally valid will that reflects your Islamic values and wishes.

I'm incredibly proud to have been part of building this platform and bringing this important service to the Muslim community in the UK. You can learn more at truewills.co.uk (opens in new tab).
